Kathryn Stats
Kathryn Stats (American 1944) is known for luminous landscape paintings inspired by the American Southwest, particularly Utah. Raised in rural Utah, she developed an early connection to the region’s terrain, which later became central to her artistic practice. She studied at Utah State University (BS) and later at Brigham Young University (MFA), where she refined her approach to color and composition. Her work captures expansive natural environments rendered with a strong sense of atmosphere, light, and memory, reflecting both direct observation and an emotional response to place.
