The Ellen Noël Art Museum seeks a creative, organized, and collaborative Curator to lead the development, interpretation, and presentation of exhibitions and collections that engage and inspire diverse audiences. This position plays a key role in advancing the Museum’s mission through thoughtful dynamic programming, scholarship, and strong community connections.
Primary responsibilities include researching, organizing, and installing temporary and permanent exhibitions; managing and interpreting the Museum’s collection; and contributing to exhibition planning, loans, and publications. The Curator works closely with the Executive Director and education staff to develop interpretive materials, lectures, and programs, and supports grant writing and fundraising efforts related to curatorial projects.
The Curator also oversees collections management practices, including documentation, care, and storage, and collaborates with artists, lenders, and partner organizations. This role requires balancing big-picture vision with strong attention to detail and project management.
Ideal candidates will have a master’s degree in art history, museum studies, or a related field; at least three years of curatorial or collections-related experience in a museum or nonprofit setting; and strong research, writing, and communication skills. The successful candidate will be a proactive, adaptable team player with a passion for contemporary and regional art and a commitment to serving a broad public.
