Barry Underwood
Barry Underwood (American 1963) received his MFA in Photography from the Cranbrook Academy of Art and has been an artist-in-residence at institutions including the Banff Centre for the Arts, I-Park Foundation, Headlands Center for the Arts, and the Center for Land Use Interpretation. Underwood constructs temporary sculptural installations in remote landscapes, which he then photographs using long exposures that capture ambient light over time. His work draws on theatrical staging, set design, and environmental observation to create images that explore human impact on the landscape and encourage reflection on ecological change through abstraction, geometry, and color.
