Boaz Vaadia
Boaz Vaadia (Israeli/American 1951–2017) was a sculptor known for figurative works constructed from layered bluestone, slate, and bronze. Born in Gat Rimon, Israel, he studied at the Avni Institute of Fine Arts in Tel Aviv before continuing his education at Pratt Institute and the Brooklyn Museum Art School after relocating to New York in 1975. Drawing inspiration from his rural upbringing and a lifelong connection to the earth, Vaadia embraced the natural properties of stone, allowing its layered structure to dictate the form of his sculptures.
