Roy Lichtenstein
Roy Lichtenstein (American 1923–1997) was a painter, printmaker, and sculptor best known as one of the leading figures of Pop Art. Born in New York City, he studied at Ohio State University before emerging in the early 1960s with paintings inspired by comic strips, advertisements, and commercial printing processes. His work is recognized for its bold outlines, Ben-Day dots, and graphic compositions that transformed popular imagery into large-scale fine art. Lichtenstein worked across painting, sculpture, and printmaking throughout his career, often reinterpreting subjects drawn from art history, consumer culture, and mass media.
