Carl Link

Carl Link (German/American 1887–1968) was an artist, illustrator, educator, and theatrical designer. Born in Munich, Germany, he studied at the Royal Academies in Dresden and Munich before immigrating to New York in 1914. Link worked as a portrait painter, commercial illustrator, and stage designer, creating costumes and sets for Broadway producer Morris Gest and illustrations for publications including The Dance Magazine and Liberty Magazine. Throughout his career, Link combined fine art with commercial and theatrical work, producing portraits of actors, dancers, and Native American subjects. He also taught at institutions including Columbia University and New York University.
