Oscar Lakeman
Oscar Lakeman (American 1949) is known for highly realistic depictions of paint containers and studio materials. Raised in Ohio, he earned a BFA from Kent State University in 1972. His work originated from his early practice with airbrush painting, which led him to seek a more tactile approach to making images. While the subject matter has remained consistent, his technique has evolved over time, exploring different ways of applying paint while maintaining a focus on materiality and process.
