Jochen Labriola
Jochen Labriola (German 1942–1988) was known for nature-based artworks that focus on botanical and insect subjects. Born in Berlin during World War II, he later studied painting in Paris beginning in 1970, where he developed his practice after initially working in photography. Labriola’s early work explored surrealist approaches before shifting toward realism. His paintings frequently feature calla lilies, irises, tulips, and insects, rendered with an emphasis on color, atmosphere, and a romantic interpretation of the natural world.
