Marino Mazzacurati
Marino Mazzacurati (Italian 1907–1969) was a sculptor and painter associated with the Roman School whose work moved between Cubism, Expressionism, and realism. He studied at the academies in Venice and Rome and later worked in Paris, where he encountered the influence of Auguste Rodin. Mazzacurati taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples and became known for expressive sculptures with strong physical presence and often grotesque figuration. Working across metal, stone, wood, and ceramics, he also created monuments commemorating the Italian resistance during and after World War II.
