John W. McCoy
John W. McCoy (American 1910–1989) was known for his landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. Born in California, he studied at Cornell University, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and privately with N. C. Wyeth. Married to composer Ann Wyeth, sister of Andrew Wyeth, McCoy worked in tempera, watercolor, oil, and mixed media, developing an expressive painting approach that combined traditional realism with abstract influences. He also taught for many years at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
