Joseph McDonnell
Joseph McDonnell (American 1936) is a sculptor whose work ranges from small-scale pieces to monumental public commissions created in bronze, granite, steel, and glass. He earned both a BA and MFA from University of Notre Dameand also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and the Harvard School of Design. McDonnell’s sculptures often reference ancient civilizations through symbolic forms such as arches, columns, water, and solar imagery, exploring themes of endurance, humanity, and survival.
