Jesús Moroles
Jesús Moroles (American 1950–2015) was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and raised in Dallas. He earned his B.F.A. from North Texas State University in 1978. Working primarily in granite, he developed a distinctive approach to carving and assembling stone into architectural forms that emphasize texture, light, and mass, often integrating the material’s natural fracture and movement into the design. His practice focused on large-scale public sculpture and site-responsive works, including his notable Houston Police Officers Memorial (1992).
