Conrad Marca-Relli

Conrad Marca-Relli (American 1913–2000) was a leading figure of the New York School and Abstract Expressionism known for pioneering large-scale collage techniques. Born in Boston to Italian immigrant parents, he studied briefly at the Cooper Union in New York and later worked for the WPA Federal Art Project. Combining painted canvas, collage, vinyl, and metal, Marca-Relli developed monumental abstract compositions that helped expand collage into a major modern art form.
