Giacomo Manzù

Giacomo Manzù (Italian 1908-1991) was a leading Italian sculptor of the 20th century, celebrated for bronzes that explored the human figure, spirituality, and daily life. Largely self-taught, he gained international acclaim for both intimate works and monumental commissions, including the bronze doors (Door of the Dead) at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. Grande Striptease reflects his interest in movement and vulnerability, capturing the elegance of the human form within Italy’s long figurative sculptural tradition.
