Bill Komodore
Bill Komodore (Greek/American 1932-2012) immigrated to the United States in 1947 and studied at Tulane University, where he was influenced by artists including Mark Rothko, George Rickey, and David Smith. After moving to New York in 1961, Komodore gained recognition for optically active paintings that explored vibration, flicker, and after-images, leading to exhibitions at the Howard Wise Gallery and inclusion in major exhibitions such as The Responsive Eyeat the Museum of Modern Art in 1965. Later in his career, after relocating to Texas, he developed more figurative and narrative works while teaching at Southern Methodist University beginning in 1989.
