Tracy 168

Tracy 168 (American 1958–2023), born Michael Christopher Tracy, was a pioneering New York graffiti artist credited with developing the influential style known as “wildstyle”. Emerging from the Bronx during the early 1970s, he transformed subway cars into complex compositions of interlocking letters, arrows, flames, and cartoon imagery that revolutionized graffiti lettering. His innovative approach established a new visual language that spread internationally and became foundational to contemporary street art. Through his dynamic scripts and iconic "Tracy face" motif, Tracy 168 helped elevate graffiti from an underground practice to a recognized artistic movement, influencing generations of artists around the world.
