Bill Wiggins
Bill Wiggins (American, 1917–2012) was a New Mexico painter whose career spanned more than seven decades. Born in Roswell, he began painting in 1940 while attending Abilene Christian College and later studied art in England during his service in World War II. Returning to Roswell, he balanced ranching with a lifelong dedication to painting and teaching. In 1995, Roswell Museum and Art Center honored him with a fifty-year retrospective, and in 2011 he received the New Mexico Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts. Despite losing much of his eyesight to macular degeneration, he continued painting until the end of his life.
