Margo Margolis

Margo Margolis (American 1947) is a New York–based painter known for abstract works that explore the relationship between written and visual language. She studied at Skidmore College and Indiana University, and later served as chair of the Painting and Sculpture Department at Tyler School of Art and Architecture. Influenced in part by Italian comic books encountered while teaching in Rome, Margolis creates layered compositions using flashe paint, producing velvety surfaces that balance abstraction, illusion, and visual rhythm.
