Greg Mahoney (American 1955) is a Los Angeles based artist whose work explores nature, geology, and the passage of time through abstract and material-driven processes. After earning a BFA from the University of Southern California in 1980, Mahoney developed a practice using steel, cement, salt, and found materials exposed to natural elements such as rain, rust, and erosion. Influenced in part by the work of Robert Smithson, his paintings and constructions investigate the relationship between chance, landscape, and human perception.
