Michael Chesley Johnson (American 1956) is a plein air painter working primarily in oil, pastel, and gouache, with subjects drawn from the American Southwest, Downeast Maine, and the Canadian Maritimes. He was awarded Master Pastellist status by Pastel Artists Canada in 2008 and is a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society and Plein Air Painters of New Mexico. In addition to painting, Johnson is an author, workshop instructor, and frequent contributor to publications including The Artist’s Magazine, Pastel Journal, and PleinAir Magazine.
