Mark Flood (American 1957) is a Houston-based interdisciplinary artist known for his punk-inspired, irreverent critiques of contemporary culture and the art world. A graduate of Rice University, Flood emerged from Houston’s punk scene as a member of the band Culturcide before developing a practice spanning painting, collage, sculpture, and installation. His best-known “Lace Paintings” combine distressed surfaces, layered imagery, and text-based slogans that blend humor, appropriation, and social commentary.
