Gary Kulak
Gary Kulak (American 1952) is a sculptor and educator whose work explores the chair form through materials including steel, bronze, wood, and 3D-printed media. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he earned a BFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1975 and an MFA from Hunter College in 1983, studying with artists such as Sol LeWitt, Robert Morris, and Alice Aycock. Based in Michigan, Kulak has combined traditional metal fabrication with evolving digital technologies, incorporating 3D scanning and printing into his sculptural practice while maintaining evidence of handcraft and material process.
