Margarete Bagshaw
Margarete Bagshaw (American 1964–2015) was a modernist painter and the daughter of Helen Hardin and granddaughter of Pablita Velarde. Raised in Albuquerque, she came to art later in life, developing a distinctive style of vibrant abstraction with layered color and occasional Native iconography. In 2012, she co-founded the Pablita Velarde Museum of Indian Women, supporting the visibility of Native women artists.
