Jean Cappadonna-Nichols

Jean Cappadonna-Nichols (American 1941-2011) was an American artist and sculptor with deep ties to West Texas. Raised in Midland, she graduated from Midland High School and earned her BFA from Texas Tech University. Best known for her work in ceramics, she created expressive, often humorous figurative sculptures that explored the human condition through personal experience. She was also a central figure in the region’s arts community, serving as the first president of the organization that would become the Ellen Noël Art Museum in Odessa. Her work was exhibited regionally and nationally, reflecting her lasting impact on the Permian Basin arts community.
