Friar Alberto da Castello

Alberto da Castello (Italian approx 1450-1522) was born in mid-fifteenth-century Venice and later entered the Dominican Order around 1470. As a member of the order he dedicated his life to religious scholarship and the production of devotional, liturgical, historical and canonical writings. His work reflects the intellectual and spiritual priorities of late medieval Catholicism, particularly within the Venetian context where religious life and civic identity were closely intertwined.
