HALSTON: INVENTING AMERICAN FASHION
December 6, 2025 - March 22, 2026
“You are only as good as the people you dress.”
— Halston
With this simple yet powerful philosophy, Roy Halston Frowick, known to the world as Halston, redefined American fashion and left an indelible mark on global style. The Ellen Noël Art Museum is proud to present Halston: Inventing American Fashion, a landmark exhibition celebrating the designer’s groundbreaking legacy.

Halston rose to prominence in the 1970s with a sleek, minimalist aesthetic that transformed the very idea of glamour. His elegant silhouettes, crafted from luxurious fabrics, embodied confidence and ease. From Jackie Kennedy’s iconic pillbox hat to the flowing gowns embraced by Liza Minnelli and Bianca Jagger, Halston’s designs captured the spirit of a generation and helped place American fashion firmly on the world stage.
Curated by his niece and biographer, Lesley Frowick, Halston: Inventing American Fashion offers an intimate and personal look at the man behind the legend. Rare garments, photographs, and archival materials trace his creative journey, revealing both his design genius and his enduring cultural impact.
More than a showcase of fashion, the exhibition explores Halston’s visionary approach to branding, celebrity, and modernity elements that continue to shape the industry today. By blending sophistication with bold innovation, Halston forever changed the way America, and the world, dresses.
Halston: Inventing American Fashion is presenting by Sewell Family of Companies. This exhibition will be on display at the Ellen Noël Art Museum in Odessa, TX from December 6, 2025 through March 22nd, 2026. The Museum is open to the public Tuesdays through Sundays 12-5PM, with extended hours on Thursdays until 8PM. As always, admission to the Museum is FREE.
