Katherine “KT” Taylor
Katherine “KT” Taylor (American 1974) is a sculptor whose work explores the relationship between the natural world and contemporary sculpture. Born in Midland, Texas, she earned a B.A. in Studio Art from Dartmouth College and an M.F.A. from the University of Melbourne. She divides her time between Texas, New York, Alabama, and Spain, where she collaborates with a foundry on large-scale projects. Working primarily in bronze and stainless steel, Taylor is known for her innovative “texture swapping” technique, in which the surfaces of plants and animals are exchanged to create sculptures that blur distinctions between species and environments.
