Billy Schenck
Billy Schenck (American 1947) is best known as a painter and one of the pioneers of the contemporary Pop Western movement. He attended the Columbus College of Art and Design before earning a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. Combining Pop Art and Photorealism with imagery drawn from Western films and comics, Schenck reimagines cowboys, landscapes, and Native American subjects through bold color, flattened forms, and a playful examination of American mythology.
