Melissa Meyer
Melissa Meyer (American 1946) is an abstract painter whose compositions explore movement, rhythm, and light through expressive brushwork and layered color. Born in New York City, she earned both a BS and an MA from New York University. Beginning her career in the early 1970s, Meyer was influenced by the legacy of Abstract Expressionism and the mentorship of artists at the Yaddo residency. Her paintings balance improvisation with structure, drawing inspiration from both the urban energy of New York City and the atmospheric qualities of the natural landscape.
